The month of September is National Preparedness Month. Johnson County is no stranger to some wild weather during the year.
Johnson County Director of Community Preparedness, Trent Pittman, suggests the following components for being prepared:
• Be connected
• Make a plan
• Gather supplies
Also be sure to enroll in NotifyJoCo, the county’s emergency notification system. This service will help you keep track of what’s going on near your home, your workplace, your children’s school and daycare, and more. Customize your locations and contact preferences to receive alerts at home, at work, by phone, email or text. And when your contact information or preferences change, don’t forget to log in and update them.
Another way you can be prepared is to use a weather radio. If you need assistance in getting it programmed, Johnson County Emergency Communications can help. They can be contacted at 913-715-1007.
